So much has been going on recently that I have not really had the time to process much at all. I don’t know about you, but I honestly feel as if there are times when I just switch into autopilot and go through the motions of the ins and outs of everyday life. I don’t feel pain as acutely, but I also don’t feel joy as poignantly.
I feel as if I have reached a point that seems like survival mode. It doesn’t just have to do with COVID (although, let’s be honest; most things have something to do with COVID right now). It also has to do with the transitional period I am in right now, my health, my summer season away from my college routine, my consistency in the Word of God. It’s a good time to be alive… but it’s also hard.
There is a story in the Bible about how Elisha was sheltered in a city, hiding from the Aramean king. And although he was surrounded by his enemies, he knew that his God was greater. The servant under him was terrified because he couldn’t understand what Elisha knew to be true. So the prophet asked the Lord to open his servant’s eyes. Around them were an army of angels to protect them (2 Kings 6:8-17).
I find it interesting to note that in the following verses, Elisha prays to God that he might strike the Aramean soldiers with blindness (2 Kings 6:18) and the Lord did so. It doesn’t even mention the angel army playing a part in that. Whether or not they did, however, we can note that God is in full control of this situation.
Not only are we surrounded by an army of angels fighting for the Lord (whose side all Believers are), but we are also surrounded by an all-powerful, all-knowing God! Whatever you are facing today, God is greater than everything. Be assured that regardless of the pressures you are facing, it’s good to walk with the Lord our God. You are surrounded.
