Day 75: You Are Working

The past few weeks have been full of long days with lots of work hours. I enjoy the fast-paced scene I experience at work, and it’s something that gives me a feeling of accomplishment. I know it’s not my purpose in life, but I am reminded that the way we live our lives, wherever that might be, is how we show the world who God is.

One of the most difficult things for me throughout the day is to remember why I am doing what I am doing. There are honestly times when I forget that what I am doing is out of love for God and trying to glorify Him with all I do (1 Corinthians 10:31).

I want to glorify Him with what I say and do, even when it’s hard. I know that at the end of every single day, I answer to myself. I know how hard I worked, what I worked on, and I even think about what I could have done differently. However, I also answer to God for everything I do. He knows what I am doing and thinking, how I live my life. The Bible tells us to “Do your best to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth” (2 Timothy 2:15, NIV).

As much as I want to work well at my jobs, perform well both for other people as well as for myself, I want to live for God even more. I want Him to see that I am living in a way that shows His love. I want to speak His Truth without fear of what others have to say or even what they think. Work for the glory of God, and not for anything or anyone else.
