Day 89: You Are Citizens

Today was a good reminder of our citizenship in heaven. I consider the freedom we experience here in America, especially in regards to religion. But we know the kingdom of God is even more free than what we see and experience.

“But our citizenship is in heaven. And we eagerly await a Savior from there, the Lord Jesus Christ, who, by the power that enables him to bring everything under his control, will transform our lowly bodies so that they will be like his glorious body” (Philippians 3:20-21).

Although we are in this world, we should not be of this world (John 19:36). We should live as followers of Christ, with our eyes fixed on Him. We know that as believers, we will one day be in the Promised Land, the New Jerusalem. And when that day comes, we’ll no longer be searching for our final home, for we will be with God there. Live with your heavenly citizenship in mind.
